On the afternoon of July 3, 2025, lawyers Jiang Qiuwei and Qiu Shumiao from the Marriage, Family and Corporate Affairs Team of Landing (Guangzhou) Law Firm were invited to participate in the "Huayuan Qiuyun Forum," a brand activity of the Party Committee of Retired Faculty and Staff and the Office of Retired Staff of South China University of Technology. In response to the frequent problem of elderly people being scammed, Attorney Qiu Shumiao analyzed new types of scams that specifically target the elderly, based on high-incidence cases in recent years. These scams include health and elderly care investment projects, health product buyback schemes with "expert consultations," impersonating public officials to transfer "poverty alleviation funds," impersonating "relatives of leaders" to handle affairs, and exploiting family anxiety with "family members asking for help." She also shared identification techniques and legal response strategies for these scams, emphasizing that the core of protecting rights lies in "reporting to the police quickly, gathering all evidence, using the law, and protecting one's mental well-being."

Following the lecture, the audience actively asked questions.
